Consultant Ophthalmologist (Various Sub‑specialties)

About the role

The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) is seeking qualified Consultant Ophthalmologists to join its multidisciplinary team. Appointees will work across one or more of SNEC’s regional satellite sites—including Changi General Hospital, Sengkang General Hospital, and new locations—as well as the main campus. The role offers a blend of clinical service, teaching, and research within a leading academic eye centre.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality ophthalmic care in designated subspecialties (e.g., Oculoplastic, Glaucoma, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Adult Strabismus, Medical Retina, General Ophthalmology).
• Perform surgeries, laser procedures, and outpatient consultations.
• Participate in teaching activities for trainees and medical students.
• Contribute to clinical research and publish findings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across satellite hospitals.

Required profile

• Basic medical degree with a postgraduate qualification in Ophthalmology (e.g., MMed, FRCOphth) registrable with the Singapore Medical Council.
• Completion of a recognised advanced specialist training programme in Ophthalmology and eligibility for accreditation by the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health.
• Eligibility for specialist registration with the Singapore Medical Council.
• Strong teaching and research track record (publications beneficial).

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in the relevant ophthalmic subspecialty.
• Proficiency in ophthalmic surgical and laser techniques.
• Ability to mentor trainees and contribute to academic activities.
