Data Centre Operator (L1 Application Monitoring)

About the role

Banking Computer Services (BCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Network for Electronic Transfers (S) and part of the NETS Group, manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure such as FAST, Inter-bank GIRO, Cheque Truncation System, PayNow and SGQR. The IT Operations department, which oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance and support of BCS's IT systems, manages data centre operations and incident management. The L1 Application Monitoring Officer keeps the Network Operating Centre (NOC) running smoothly and carries out daily operations to meet business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hourly services and system checks
• Provide onsite support activities in external data centres when required
• Check first level all application batch logs for exceptional error messages
• Monitor system status using the Central Monitoring System or application logs
• Escalate and raise incident tickets for hardware or suspected hardware faults
• Provide first-level support to L2 on business requirements
• Carry out batch and operational duties listed in checklists
• Run routine batch jobs, weekend system tests and User Acceptance Tests (UAT)

Required profile

• Diploma in information technology or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in data centre operations
• Ability to work 24/7 on rotating shifts
• Good interpersonal skills and team spirit

• Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems
