Deputy Head of Secondary

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Deputy Head of Secondary to join the Australian International School. This senior leadership position will support the Head of Secondary in driving academic excellence, fostering a positive school culture, and ensuring the wellbeing of all students.

Key responsibilities

• Lead pastoral and behaviour management initiatives across the secondary campus.
• Oversee line management of teaching staff and coordinate professional development programmes.
• Analyse attendance, behaviour and wellbeing data to inform strategic actions.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and maintain effective behaviour systems and school culture.
• Represent the school at events outside standard hours, supporting community and extracurricular activities.
• Ensure rigorous safeguarding practices are embedded throughout the secondary programme.

Required profile

• Qualified secondary teacher with proven experience in a middle‑leadership or pastoral role.
• Strong understanding of behaviour systems, data‑driven decision making and school culture.
• Demonstrated ability to manage staff, mentor colleagues and drive professional growth.
• Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing and inclusive practice.
• Initiative, independence and excellent communication skills with staff, students and parents.
