Firmware Engineer - SSD Controller

About the role

Micron Technology, Inc. is hiring a Firmware Engineer to build high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. The role supports the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging and failure analysis of firmware for new memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that improve performance while reducing power, latency and SoC complexity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products that meet or exceed the technical specification matrix, covering performance, endurance, capacity, functionality and quality/reliability.
• Develop firmware unit and functional tests to ensure subsystems meet quality, functional and performance requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Triage failures, file bug reports and help development teams isolate issues.
• Provide detailed, accurate information to management, multi-functional team members and the firmware team, including project status updates.
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and management, and support team and personal technical development.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and share AI-enabled improvements within scope.

Required profile

• Masters or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Excellent communication skills.
• 2 years of equivalent experience in embedded systems development is an advantage.
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools effectively.

Required skills

• Firmware and embedded programming, primarily C, and debugging.
• Experience with storage interfaces such as PCIe/NVMe is a plus.
• NAND experience is an advantage.
