Firmware Test Engineer (SSD)

About the role

Micron Technology is hiring a Firmware and Product Test Engineer in its Solid State Drive (SSD) group. You will help ensure SSD products have world-class performance and reliability, collaborating with experts to build flawless SSD firmware for enterprise and automotive markets.

Key responsibilities

• Build comprehensive firmware verification plans for various firmware features.
• Develop white/grey-box, known and closed system testing methods to verify and validate firmware products.
• Analyze failures from weekly regressions and perform root-cause analysis.
• Communicate challenges, solutions and mitigation plans to cross-functional management, covering both technical and non-technical topics.
• Participate in code reviews and work closely with firmware development engineers to improve code quality.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work, applying sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying, testing and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within your scope.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 2-3 years of experience in test development and validation; internship or academic project experience counts.
• Highly organized, creative and motivated, able to work on complex tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with software testing concepts (white/grey/black box, boundary, regression).
• Strong Python programming, including scripting, debugging and test framework development.
• Familiarity with Git development flow and branch management.
• Knowledge of storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI and OCP is an advantage.
• Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI tools responsibly.
