Head of Regional Strategy – India Region

About the role

This senior mandate leads the strategic, financial and governance agenda for the India Business Unit of a global financial institution. The role reports directly to the CEO and Board, shaping high‑impact decisions and driving value creation across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end formulation, refresh and execution of the India market strategy, covering growth, profitability and capital efficiency.
• Provide independent challenge to India BU management, ensuring strategies are robust, defensible and aligned with shareholder objectives.
• Lead major strategic actions such as stake changes, M&A, and performance turn‑arounds, engaging directly with C‑level stakeholders.
• Deliver group synergies to India, leveraging product innovation, digital capabilities, analytics and risk frameworks from other regions.
• Drive business transformation initiatives, operating model redesign, regulatory positioning and strategic responses to market developments.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in strategy, corporate development or investment roles within life insurance or financial services.
• Strong exposure to bancassurance and deep knowledge of the Indian insurance market.
• Proven track record of engagement at CXO, Board or shareholder level.
• Deep mastery of life‑insurance value drivers, distribution economics and product‑capital profitability.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to make clear decisions under ambiguity.
