JAPAC Market Strategic Advisor – Compliance Officer

About the role

IBM Legal is seeking a seasoned lawyer to serve as a JAPAC Market Strategic Advisor with a focus on compliance. The role will support IBM’s innovation agenda across the Asia‑Pacific region by providing high‑level legal counsel and shaping the organization’s approach to complex regulatory challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on antitrust, administrative, commercial, employment and other legal matters to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
• Lead and direct litigation efforts, developing strategies that protect IBM’s interests and reputation.
• Develop and maintain robust business ethics frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver timely counsel that informs business decisions and drives growth.
• Define and implement comprehensive legal strategies that support organizational objectives.

Required profile

• Extensive professional legal training and experience as a generalist lawyer.
• In‑depth knowledge of multiple legal domains, including antitrust, administrative, commercial, communications, employment, environmental and intellectual property law.
• Proven leadership in managing litigation and regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Ability to shape strategic legal planning and align it with business goals.
