Legal & Compliance Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a senior Legal & Compliance Counsel to build and lead the global legal and compliance function for a fast‑growing international digital assets platform. The role will be based in Singapore or Hong Kong and will work closely with senior leadership to shape licensing strategy and regulatory frameworks as the business expands worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end regulatory licensing projects across multiple jurisdictions, from strategy to licence maintenance.
• Design and implement a group‑wide legal and compliance framework covering AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, customer protection, data governance and other regulatory obligations.
• Partner with Product, Technology, Risk and Commercial teams to embed compliance into the product lifecycle and support international expansion.
• Manage regulatory enquiries, investigations, enforcement matters, customer disputes and other complex legal issues.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements, platform documentation, governance policies and regulatory submissions.
• Build and mentor the Legal & Compliance team while fostering a strong compliance culture.
• Monitor global regulatory developments and provide pragmatic advice to enable sustainable growth.

Required profile

• 8+ years of legal and/or compliance experience in financial services.
• At least 5 years advising cryptocurrency exchanges, digital‑assets platforms or Web3 businesses.
• Proven track record leading regulatory licensing and cross‑border compliance initiatives.
• Strong commercial judgement and leadership capability to build trusted relationships with regulators, business leaders and technical teams.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of crypto regulation, AML/CFT, sanctions, KYC, data privacy and financial‑crime compliance.
• Experience managing regulatory investigations, legal incidents and high‑stakes legal matters.
