Legal Counsel, Banking

About the role

An established bank with a strong APAC focus is looking to hire an experienced legal counsel through its recruiter, Randstad Singapore. The role is based in Singapore and involves giving practical, commercially sound legal advice on banking products, services and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical and commercially sound legal advice on a broad range of banking products, services and operational matters
• Draft, review and negotiate loan documentation, commercial agreements, client documentation, vendor contracts and other legal instruments
• Identify and assess legal risks linked to business activities, new initiatives and transactions, and propose mitigation strategies
• Help develop and implement internal legal policies, procedures and training programmes
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsels where needed, and report and escalate legal risk issues to senior management

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree
• Qualified banking and finance lawyer with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience
• Experience in a bank's legal department or a reputable law firm specialising in banking and finance

• Strong analytical, drafting and legal research skills
• Ability to turn complex legal concepts into practical advice
