Legal Counsel – Global Software Business

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join a global technology business that develops AI‑driven software, payments and e‑commerce solutions. The role is based in Asia and will support the Japanese market, providing commercial and regulatory guidance across a range of product lines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial legal support for product, sales, marketing and deal teams, including negotiation, drafting and execution of commercial agreements.
• Lead regulatory and compliance reviews, ensuring all transactions meet local legislation and governance standards before implementation.
• Advise country heads on fast‑changing regulatory environments and coordinate with external counsel and vendors.
• Participate in regional projects such as marketing strategies, product launches and market‑penetration initiatives.

Required profile

• 6–12 years of post‑qualification experience (PQE) in commercial law.
• Education from a top‑tier law school.
• Strong exposure to commercial agreements across multiple jurisdictions, especially in consumer goods, e‑commerce and technology sectors.
• Native‑level Japanese and fluent English.
