Legal Counsel – Retail Leasing (1-year contract)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced leasing lawyer to join our Legal Department on a 1‑year contract. The role will focus on reviewing, negotiating and finalising store leases across Singapore while supporting other commercial legal matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the review, negotiation and execution of letters of offer, store leases, construction, renovation and maintenance agreements.
• Ensure consistency of lease agreements and compliance with internal global and local policies.
• Provide practical, risk‑based legal advice to internal stakeholders, balancing commercial goals with legal safeguards.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate legal and operational risks associated with lease terms and landlord negotiations.
• Collaborate with store development, design and finance teams to secure timely and protective agreements.
• Support the Legal Department on commercial contract reviews, regulatory research and compliance matters as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and admission to the Singapore Bar or another common‑law jurisdiction.
• 4–7 years post‑qualification experience with a strong focus on real‑estate and leasing matters.
• Proven experience in commercial retail leasing, including negotiation of complex lease agreements.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Strong commercial acumen and the capacity to assess legal risks in a business context.
• Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple matters independently in a fast‑paced environment.
