Legal Director – APAC (ex China)

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Director to lead our regional legal function across Asia (excluding China). This senior position will support a global e‑commerce leader that is preparing for an IPO, offering the chance to shape legal strategy with strong global peer support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal and regulatory advice to regional operations in Asia (ex‑China).
• Partner with legal, corporate and business teams both regionally and globally to ensure alignment and share best practices.
• Monitor legislative developments, issue compliance guidance and support business units.
• Collaborate with international teams on significant litigation and disputes across relevant jurisdictions.
• Advise on business development, supply‑chain and logistics matters.
• Manage corporate secretarial requirements, liaise with authorities and maintain statutory filings.

Required profile

• More than 10 years post‑qualification experience, with both private‑practice and in‑house exposure.
• Background in e‑commerce, digital platforms or comparable B2C sectors is highly advantageous.
• Experience leading teams, overseeing 6 direct reports across tech, corporate, ESG, legal ops, commercial contracts, regulatory and employment.
• Broad expertise in employment law, data privacy (including GDPR) and supply‑chain legal matters.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and high professional accountability.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑growth, high‑pace environment with shifting priorities.
• Collaborative, low‑ego approach and effective cross‑functional working style.
