Medical Scientific Liaison – Oncology

About the role

The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) – Oncology is a hybrid field‑ and office‑based position responsible for high‑quality, compliant scientific exchange with healthcare professionals. The role supports Abbott’s oncology portfolio by delivering medical insights, fostering relationships with key opinion leaders, and contributing to the successful launch of new products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific and medical input to cross‑functional launch teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Build and maintain scientific partnerships with oncology KOLs to gather insights and identify unmet medical needs.
• Facilitate scientific discussions between Abbott staff and external experts on relevant products and therapeutic areas.
• Contribute to the design, execution, and follow‑up of oncology clinical studies and real‑world evidence projects.
• Develop, review, and adapt oncology‑specific scientific materials for external meetings, advisory boards, and HTA submissions.
• Respond to medical queries from external stakeholders (KOLs, physicians) and internal functions (QA, RA, PV, Commercial).
• Share feedback and scientific insights with cross‑functional teams following established processes.
• Deliver non‑promotional scientific updates and presentations to internal teams.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in a life‑science discipline (PhD, PharmD, MD) with strong oncology expertise.
• Proven experience as a Medical Science Liaison or similar scientific liaison role in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated ability to engage KOLs and conduct compliant scientific exchange.
• Knowledge of clinical research, real‑world evidence generation, and medical affairs governance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
