Optical Engineer, Advanced Photonic IC Development

About the role

The Optics team designs, verifies and validates highly integrated silicon photonics components, including high-speed silicon photonics, transmit and receive amplifiers and controller ASICs with Marvell DSPs, running embedded firmware. This role covers the full engineering design and transfer to production of advanced optics products for next-generation data center and AI markets.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to optical component development and heterogeneous integration for next-generation products.
• Implement creative solutions to accelerate next-gen photonics product development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of digital and analog circuit designers, signal/power integrity engineers, substrate layout and system design engineers.
• Take on changing priorities depending on team and product needs and adapt quickly.

Required profile

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of related professional experience.
• Proactive self-starter who can work in an integrated, global team and handle large bodies of data with statistical analysis.
• Ability to present data and ideas to a diverse audience.

Required skills

• Understanding of semiconductor physics and hands-on design of optical devices such as detectors, modulators and high-speed linear integrated components.
• Hands-on optical and RF electrical modeling and simulation software, and EDA tools for photonic IC layout.
• Optical device characterization including DC, RF and device control.
• Familiarity with advanced electro-optic materials and integration into silicon photonics platforms, and with Si/CMOS/MEMS process technologies.
