Staff / Senior Manufacturing Technician

About the role

Silicon Labs, a leader in low-power wireless connectivity, is hiring a Staff / Senior Manufacturing Technician. The role covers the setup, maintenance and support of test and handling equipment used in semiconductor testing, working closely with equipment engineers and production teams.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, convert, troubleshoot and repair equipment such as testers, handlers and scanners.
• Manage equipment installation, buy-off, modification, conversion and upgrades.
• Maintain documentation of equipment buy-offs, repairs and regular preventive maintenance and calibration.
• Work with equipment engineers to study equipment performance and reliability, and establish programs that improve uptime and reduce breakdowns affecting production.
• Support the development of handler interfaces, change kits, motherboards, daughter cards and load boards.
• Evaluate and select sockets and pogo pins to improve test yield and productivity.
• Coordinate with the supervisor, production test scheduler or shift team leader to set up equipment to meet engineering and production needs.
• Monitor equipment performance (utilisation, downtime) and prepare reports on utilisation, downtime and daily output.
• Train operators and new technicians on equipment operation, and provide engineering support, hardware build/repair and reliability monitoring.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or degree with at least 3 years of experience in semiconductor test as a technician, or equivalent.
• Verbal and written communication skills at all organisational levels.
• Able to work efficiently under pressure and make sound decisions independently.
• Able to work normal or 12-hour day and night shifts.

Required skills

• Windows, Microsoft Office and Manufacturing Execution System software knowledge.
• Experience with test handlers (Hontech, JHT, MT9928, ESMO, Rasco, SRM), testers (J750, UFLEX) and scanners (Vitrox, VisDynamics) is a plus.
• Load board repair and maintenance knowledge and experience.
