Optical Systems Engineer - SWIFT Hardware Prototyping

About the role

KLA's LS-SWIFT division delivers high-throughput patterned wafer inspection systems for advanced semiconductor manufacturing, including advanced packaging, logic, memory and automotive applications. The SWIFT engineering development team in Singapore designs, prototypes and tests new hardware versions along the product development roadmap. This role focuses on hardware prototyping and testing of light sources (first priority), with some testing of optics.

Key responsibilities

• Vendor management: acquire all hardware needed for testing
• Set up experiments and hardware, including work in a clean room environment
• Run tests and collect data
• Analyse data and present results
• Use Python scripting for automated test setup
• Nice to have: simulate imagery and model how image changes affect the optical system budget (Fourier transforms, convolutions, pixel sampling)

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience, Master's with 2 years, or PhD with at least 1 year of experience
• Degree in optics or a related technical field (physics, photonics, electrical)
• At least 1 year of laboratory setups with automated data collection
• Optical training or equivalent optical work experience is required

Required skills

• Start-to-finish data collection and analysis with electronic devices (camera images, computer-captured data such as power meter readings)
• Intermediate or better level of MATLAB or Python
• Mechanical and electrical integration experience
• Ability to work in a clean room and as part of a team
• Ability to process and present data and conclusions, and to communicate clearly
• Nice to have: basic statistics, image file processing, Zemax modeling, light source modeling, vendor coordination, CAD model review
