Principal / MTS Engineer, SSD Validation

About the role

Micron is looking for a Principal / MTS Engineer to lead end-to-end SSD firmware test architecture design and quality validation for enterprise, data center and automotive SSD products. The role also involves building high-efficiency automation platforms and CI/CD pipelines, driving critical issue resolution and supporting product mass production.

Key responsibilities

• Own the overall test architecture, validation strategy and quality system for enterprise SSD firmware.
• Design and implement test solutions covering functionality, performance, reliability, QoS, PLP, FTL, GC, power and security.
• Build and optimize the automation test framework, long-stability test system and CI/CD pipeline for mass validation.
• Lead root cause analysis and closure of critical firmware issues such as hangs, drops, performance degradation and compatibility problems.
• Take part in product architecture reviews and give technical input on firmware design, NAND selection and reliability targets.
• Drive test team capability improvement, process optimization and technical standardization.
• Track new storage technologies such as PCIe 5.0/6.0, NVMe 2.0, ZNS, CXL and automotive and industrial storage, and integrate AI-assisted tools into daily work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, Microelectronics or a related field.
• At least 8 years of SSD firmware test/development experience, or at least 3 years as test architect or technical leader.
• Experience in HW/FW co-debugging, reliability validation and mass production test systems.
• Preferred: experience in enterprise/data center/automotive SSD, ZNS, CXL, NVMe-oF, Secure Boot or ASIL, and having led end-to-end test system or team setup for mass production.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of NVMe/PCIe/SATA protocols and SSD core technologies (FTL, GC, WL, PLP, NAND Flash).
• Proficiency in Linux, Python/C/Shell, automation framework development and test tools such as fio, nvme-cli and PyNVMe.
• Strong architecture design, problem-solving and cross-team leadership skills.
