Product Engineer (SWIFT NPI Product)

About the role

KLA, which makes inspection tools, metrology systems and process solutions for electronics, is hiring a Product Engineer for its SWIFT NPI product within the KLA Services team. The role acts as the central technical resource between design engineering, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field teams as the product moves through its life cycle, and works to optimise serviceability and service revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the technical interface with design engineering, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field teams throughout the product life cycle.
• Optimise serviceability and reduce cost of service, and improve short- and long-term product service revenue.
• Drive continuous improvement of system hardware, diagnostics and software, tooling, technical documentation, knowledge management and training.
• Influence early product designs to include features that support service: calibrations and diagnostics, cost of service, reliability, design tolerances and IP protection.
• Take part in beta and sustaining escalation efforts, analyse data and work with divisional experts on an action plan executable by Customer Service Engineers and Technical Support Engineers.
• Share knowledge across the Technical Support organisation through training classes, scripts, coaching and documents, and audit service training courses with Learning and Knowledge Services.
• Help define and optimise the spare parts stocked to support field shipments, considering reliability, diagnostics, inventory cost and training level.
• Perform hands-on integration of Alpha/Beta systems, including serviceability validation, and travel to Beta sites for new tool installations, upgrades and escalations (up to 20% travel).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in electrical, electronic, mechanical or optics engineering.
• Hands-on, system-level troubleshooting experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Ability to work with mechanics, electronics, optics and software.
• Organised, detailed, productive, consistent and a team player.
• Strong analytic and data analysis skills, and strong written and verbal communication.
• NPI, tech support, product engineer, manufacturing design or reliability engineering experience is a plus; KLA product and reliability engineering experience is also a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with a wide range of technologies, including mechanics, electronics, optics and software.
• Python and Visual Basic are a plus.
