Project Officer (Biotechnology/Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering)

About the role

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) at NTU Singapore is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Project Officer to support research in molecular cloning automation, gene circuit design and bioprocess development. The role contributes to automating molecular cloning workflows, designing synthetic gene circuits and establishing bioprocesses for biotechnological applications, as an individual contributor to a multidisciplinary project spanning molecular biology, synthetic biology and bioprocess engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise automated molecular cloning workflows, design synthetic gene circuits and set up bioprocesses for biomolecule production.
• Carry out experiments and research activities to meet project objectives and deliverables.
• Present research findings and project updates at meetings, seminars and other forums.
• Prepare reports and documentation for funding agencies and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with scientists and researchers within the team and across other groups.
• Guide and supervise final-year project students and interns.
• Manage procurement of laboratory consumables and equipment.
• Take part in general laboratory operations as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in recombinant DNA technology, molecular cloning and microbial expression systems.
• Ability to design and run experiments independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, teamwork and initiative; able to manage competing priorities and deliver on time.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of protein purification with AKTA FPLC and basic protein analytics.
• Familiarity with cyanobacteria and photosynthetic microbes is an advantage.
