Project Officer (Material Science / Electrochemistry)

About the role

The Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is recruiting a Project Officer to work on the recycling of silicon solar panels through its SCARCE project, a collaboration between NTU and CEA (France) focused on recycling electronic waste. The role centres on hydrometallurgical processing of metals and silicon, including their dissolution and recovery, and on supporting process scale-up activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and give periodic updates on hydrometallurgical approaches for recycling solar panel waste.
• Perform and optimise hydrometallurgical processing of solar grey mass at laboratory and large scale, including electrorecovery of valuable materials.
• Analyse metallic concentrations in leachate solutions and characterise residues or solar grey mass (e.g. ICP-OES, SEM/EDX, particle size analyser).
• Take part in collaborative work with team members and external partners, preparing technical reports, videos and manuals and presenting results.
• Help with laboratory logistics, administrative tasks and coordination of project activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or a related field.
• Entry-level candidates are welcome; willingness to learn and flexibility to take on tasks beyond the description.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with material characterisation techniques such as SEM-EDX, XRD and ICP-OES is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience in electrochemical analysis techniques is advantageous.
