Regional Development Applications Engineer (Component Inspection)

About the role

KLA's ICOS Vision Systems division makes fully automated tools for inspecting and sorting finished integrated circuit packages, and its engineering teams are based in Leuven, Singapore and Shenzhen. This regional development applications engineer works on the CI product, which handles the final quality-control inspection of IC packages such as BGA, QFP and QFN, and supports customers across Southeast Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Specialise in the CI product used for final QC-out inspection of IC packages such as BGA, QFP and QFN.
• Engage directly with customers on new IC package designs and share recipe-development learnings with peers through Best Known Methods (BKMs).
• Analyse the technical feasibility of customer requirements, align with engineering on a solution and present a clear technical proposal to customers.
• Act as the go-to person for Customer Engagement Applications Engineers, providing post-sales phone support, going on site for troubleshooting and escalating issues to engineering in Singapore or Belgium.
• Occasionally run training sessions for customers and local customer engagement engineers.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of industry experience.
• Experience as a technical specialist or application engineer in the semiconductor backend is an advantage.
• Dynamic, enjoys interacting with people, and has strong organisational and self-leadership skills.
• Keen technical mind, attention to detail, positive drive and commitment to results.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to absorb and share knowledge.
• Proficiency in English with good communication skills.
