Regional Development Applications Engineer (PVD)

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a Regional Development Applications Engineer for its Etch, CVD, PVD business unit. The role covers field engineering and application activities for PVD semiconductor thin film technology, working on several process module types and a wide range of applications at multiple customer sites. It is based in Singapore, reporting to the Apps Manager in SE Asia, with at least 50% international travel, typically to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and India.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field engineering and application activities, collecting data, investigating problems and generating new processes to meet customer requirements, including an element of hardware testing
• Support key customer escalations in the region and advise KLA field teams and colleagues on escalation status, application development and process tuning
• Write technical reports for internal and external use
• Use 8D methodology to solve problems and develop new processes in line with KLA roadmaps
• Work with customers on site to develop solutions using the existing toolset, and feed back customer needs to the UK business unit where the toolset is insufficient
• Obtain field acceptance on customer sites with the field team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in chemistry, physics or another relevant field; alternatively a doctorate with 0 years of experience, a master's with 3 years, or a bachelor's with 5 years of related experience
• Some industry experience, ideally in semiconductors
• Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form with HQ engineering teams
• Hands-on experience with PVD, Etch and CVD process development and applications, with some PVD hardware knowledge in the semiconductor industry highly advantageous
