Job description
About the role
NTU's advanced sensors research team at NTU MAE is looking for a highly motivated Research Assistant to support multidisciplinary research in biomechanics, robotics and advanced materials within the laboratory. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
Key responsibilities
- Support the team with comprehensive literature reviews on injury biomechanics, physiological effects, computational modelling and related topics.
- Develop, implement and validate computational simulation models for impact and injury prediction using numerical methods and software tools.
- Design and run experiments with instrumented human manikins and test platforms to evaluate biomechanical responses and validate simulations.
- Assist in designing, fabricating and characterising tissue simulants and non-Newtonian materials, including 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
- Develop and optimise experimental setups, testing protocols and data acquisition systems.
- Analyse data, write technical reports and help prepare publications, presentations, grant reports and project deliverables.
- Integrate advanced materials and sensing technologies into robotics and collaborate with faculty, researchers, students and external partners.
- Work on inline sensor systems for 3D-printed non-Newtonian materials, optimise hardware for a food-grade environment and develop testing protocols.
- Maintain lab equipment, follow safety procedures, liaise with vendors on custom sensors, manage technical specifications and acceptance testing, track milestones and risks, and coordinate with stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of multi-physics modelling for non-Newtonian materials.
- Experience with 3D printing, sensors, system integration, experimental testing or measurement systems is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and project coordination skills; able to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
Required skills
