Research Associate - CFD & Energy Modelling

About the role

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore's College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) is recruiting a Research Associate for its Cloud Application and Platform Group, which leads research in cloud media computing, content delivery networks, data centre architecture and big data analytics. The role focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and energy modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new CFD solutions in partnership with academic and technology partners.
• Provide CFD technical leadership to new research programmes.
• Work with colleagues to develop OpenFOAM methods, processes and workflows.
• Develop and implement mesh, solver and post-processing methodologies to improve CFD tool efficiency.
• Support and optimise CFD tools, including monitoring and resolving issues.
• Ensure CFD simulations match the capabilities of commercial tools.
• Analyse energy usage across scenarios, write reports mapping total energy use, publish papers and support documentation.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Applied Physics from a recognised university.
• Strong organisational and project skills, good teamwork and ability to work at a fast pace.
• F1 experience is advantageous but not essential.

Required skills

• OpenFOAM development and/or C++ development in a CFD environment.
• Understanding of commercial CFD solvers such as Fluent, 6Sigma and STAR-CCM+.
• Energy modelling or coding platforms such as SketchUp, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, TRNSYS and Python.
• Advantageous: Python, C++ and Unix shell scripting.
