About the role
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Associate to lead GIS and spatial analytics for the National Parks Board’s Marine Climate Change Science Coastal Protection project. The role focuses on modelling community resilience to sea‑level rise across Singapore.
Key responsibilities
- Produce GIS‑based maps of resident and business archetypes throughout Singapore (Module B).
- Conduct spatial analysis of sea‑level rise vulnerability zones and overlay them with archetype distributions.
- Validate agent‑based model outputs using geospatial techniques (Module D).
- Contribute to project reports, conference presentations, and peer‑reviewed journal articles.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Geospatial Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience handling multi‑source spatial datasets.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and QGIS.
- Knowledge of spatial statistics.
- Programming in Python (including GeoPandas and folium) or R (including sf and tmap).
- Experience in spatial data integration and visualisation of clustering results.
