About the role
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore, together with Wageningen University & Research, is seeking a Research Associate to advance indoor farming technologies. You will develop and apply simulation and machine‑learning models for Asian leafy vegetables, focusing on pak choi grown under higher temperature and humidity.
Key responsibilities
- Design and run climate‑room experiments varying environmental conditions for pak choi growth.
- Develop, calibrate and validate dynamic crop‑growth models and self‑learning algorithms using continuous sensor data.
- Collaborate with project partners to support predictive climate and crop‑control strategies for indoor farming.
- Prepare scientific manuscripts and present findings at international conferences.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in plant science, biology, agronomy or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid knowledge of plant and crop physiology.
- Interest or experience in quantitative approaches to crop growth.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Programming (e.g., Python, R) – preferred.
- Simulation and modelling of crop growth.
- Machine‑learning techniques for agricultural data.
