About the role
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at NTU Singapore, in collaboration with Wageningen University & Research, seeks a Research Associate to lead analytical characterisation of leafy vegetables grown in controlled environments. The role combines real‑time sensor technologies with laboratory chemical analysis to quantify quality traits such as flavour, nutrition and resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Operate real‑time sensing systems (e.g., NIR, hyperspectral imaging) to monitor crop quality.
- Perform targeted laboratory analyses using GC‑MS and HPLC/LC‑MS to validate chemical traits.
- Design experiments linking sensor outputs to validated quality indicators.
- Collaborate with crop physiology and modelling specialists to translate findings into actionable insights.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in plant science, biosystem engineering or a closely related field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in metabolite extraction, analysis, plant growing and phenotyping.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
