Research Fellow – Climate Dynamics

About the role
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to lead cutting‑edge investigations into marine heatwaves, ocean‑atmosphere interactions, and extreme heat attribution. The role focuses on developing advanced modelling frameworks and analysing large observational and reanalysis datasets to uncover the mechanisms and climate drivers of extreme heat events.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and apply advanced modelling and analytical frameworks for marine heatwaves and ocean‑atmosphere processes.
- Analyse large‑scale climate, oceanic, and environmental datasets to identify drivers and variability of extreme heat events.
- Produce technical reports, conference presentations, and peer‑reviewed publications.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, coordinating projects and communicating scientific findings.
- Support grant, project, and laboratory activities, including mentoring students and contributing to the team’s research agenda.
Required profile
- PhD in climate sciences, environmental sciences, oceanography or a related field.
- Familiarity with extreme event forecasting and projection.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
