Research Fellow / Engineer – Healthcare Design & Business

About the role

The Research Fellow / Research Engineer will support applied research and innovation in community and allied health, translating workflow needs, user insights and business requirements into service‑design outputs, implementation plans and evidence reports.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clinical needs assessments, user research, service‑journey mapping and workflow analysis across community, aged care, nursing homes, hospitals and home‑based care settings.
• Develop service‑design concepts, business requirements and implementation roadmaps aimed at caregiver workload reduction, care‑process redesign and automation support.
• Coordinate user feedback, pilot planning, implementation activities and data collection for proof‑of‑concept projects.
• Support industry collaborations by gathering workflow, design and business inputs and participating in meetings and project engagements.
• Assist faculty and project leads in planning, tracking timelines, documenting deliverables and generating reports, presentations and business‑case inputs.
• Contribute to grant proposals, analytics workstreams and digital dashboard development for healthcare partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years or Master’s degree with 2+ years experience in health sciences, nursing, healthcare management, design, business, service design, biomedical engineering or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of clinical workflows in hospitals, nursing homes, home‑based and palliative care settings.
• Hands‑on experience in clinical validation studies, patient needs assessment and usability testing.
• Understanding of healthcare innovation concepts such as service design, business model development, care automation and health economics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical mindset and project‑management experience.
