Research Fellow (Optical Characterization)

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is hiring a Research Fellow for its Q2Lab, which works on electronic and optical devices combining classical and quantum functionalities. The lab is built mainly on GaN semiconductors, with 2D materials, liquid crystals and perovskites, and covers MBE/MOVPE growth, in-house characterization and device fabrication in the EEE clean room. The target devices are high-power/high-frequency transistors, nonlinear photonic circuits including all-optical computing, and quantum emitters and qubits.

The lab seeks a meticulous, systematic Research Fellow to set up a new optical laboratory with nonlinear and quantum capabilities and to use it to develop an all-optical computing platform. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Key responsibilities

• Set up a new optical laboratory with nonlinear and quantum capabilities
• Run the laboratory
• Assist with optical measurements
• Implement all-optical neuromorphic architectures
• Collaborate with theory groups

Required profile

• PhD in Physics or Materials Science (optics focus)
• Hands-on experience building optical setups
• Familiarity with polariton physics (a must)
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and with international partners
