Research Fellow - Polymeric Precursors for Ceramic Materials

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow to carry out R&D on developing precursors that can be converted into ceramic materials in different forms, such as solid films and porous materials. The work covers precursor formulation, conversion processes, characterisation and possible applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop precursor formulations to be converted into porous ceramic materials for suitable applications.
• Carry out R&D on the preparation of porous ceramics, including defining the problem statement, running lab-scale and pilot-scale experiments, sample characterisation and data analysis.
• Prepare technical reports, intellectual property documents, safety documents and academic publications.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong research experience in materials science, chemical engineering and green technologies preferred for this relatively short-term project.
• Industrial-relevant experience in scalability and productisation is favorable.
• Knowledge of LCA and TEA is an advantage.
• Good team player, communicator, problem solver and thinker, able to show leadership when needed.

Required skills

• Hands-on and characterisation techniques such as DSC, FTIR, DMA, rheology and mechanical testing.
• Good wet-lab practice and awareness of laboratory safety.
