About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to the “Automated Loose Baggage Handling System for Narrow‑Body Aircraft (NYALA)” project. The position focuses on advanced robotics research and development within an interdisciplinary engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

Design and develop robotic mechanisms for baggage handling automation.
Perform physics‑based simulations using frameworks such as MuJoCo.
Apply reinforcement learning techniques to plan and optimise robot trajectories.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hardware and software components.

Required profile

PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Strong publication record in robotics, automation, or related areas.
Creative problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.

Required skills

MuJoCo or comparable physics‑based simulation tools.
Reinforcement learning for trajectory planning.
Robotics design and development.
Simulation and modelling of mechanical systems.
