Research Fellow - Wearable Robotics and Biomechanics

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow in wearable robotics and biomechanics. The role focuses on wearable robotics, human biomechanics, intelligent sensing and control, and assistive technologies such as exoskeletons, powered prostheses and balance augmentation systems. The fellow contributes to high-impact research, leads independent research, publishes findings, develops new research directions and supports the growth of the research group.

Key responsibilities

• Lead independent research in wearable robotics, biomechanics, human movement and assistive technologies, including developing new research directions and proposals.
• Develop and validate robotic systems such as wearable exoskeletons, powered prostheses and balance augmentation systems through computational modelling, system development and experimental studies.
• Publish and disseminate research findings through journals, conferences and presentations.
• Mentor and supervise students and contribute to research collaborations.

Required profile

• PhD in Mechanical, Robotics, Biomedical, Electrical/Electronic, Control or a closely related engineering discipline; candidates near completion of their PhD may be considered.
• Demonstrated research experience through peer-reviewed publications.
• Preferred: experience developing and experimentally validating robotic or wearable systems, and experience supervising students or writing research proposals.
• Strong written and verbal communication, independent and collaborative work, and strong problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Background in robotics, control, biomechanics, wearable robotics, human movement, sensing or artificial intelligence.
• Experience with robotic system development, computational modelling, experimental design or human-subject experiments.
• Proficiency in programming and data analysis with MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent tools.
