Senior Application Architect

About the role

BCS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) and part of the NETS Group, manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including FAST, IBG, CTS, and services for PayNow and SGQR. The Technology Division maintains and supports BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, CCP, eGIRO and their critical infrastructure. The Senior Application Architect designs, governs and delivers scalable, secure and business-aligned technology solutions, covering architecture planning, solution design, proof-of-concept development and technical leadership across the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted technology advisor to business and delivery stakeholders, from strategy and solution design through implementation and production support.
• Design and govern robust, scalable, secure and resilient application architectures, including layered, SOA, event-driven, domain-driven design and microservices.
• Translate business and functional requirements into technical solutions and architectural blueprints, and define integration and data exchange strategies.
• Conduct architecture reviews, performance assessments, scalability planning, capacity modelling and resilience evaluations.
• Build proof-of-concepts and provide hands-on support including prototyping and coding.
• Review technical designs, code and solution assurance activities, and support build, deployment and testing phases.
• Ensure compliance with security and best practices, and present to senior stakeholders including C-Suite executives and Board members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience designing and building applications.
• Experience in a regulated financial institution is an advantage, with knowledge of governance, compliance, risk management and audit requirements.
• Strong leadership, ownership and collaboration, with excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.

Required skills

• Java, Spring Boot and Spring Batch; AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, ECS, CloudWatch).
• Databases: Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake and NoSQL.
• AngularJS and modern web frameworks; SDLC and DevSecOps, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment automation.
• AWS certifications (Solution Architect Associate and Developer Associate) are a must.
