Senior Application Developer (Java, AWS)

About the role

BCS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS) and part of the NETS Group, manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including FAST, Inter-bank GIRO, Cheque Truncation System, PayNow and SGQR. The Application Delivery (Change) department, which is regarded as the domain experts for BCS applications, is hiring a Senior Application Developer who designs and delivers scalable, secure and business-aligned technology solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in architecture and design discussions aligned with enterprise architecture, security standards and technology roadmaps.
• Design and develop scalable, resilient, secure cloud-native applications for business-critical workloads.
• Support modernization initiatives such as refactoring, cloud adoption, API development and platform enhancements.
• Work with Information Security and Risk teams to embed secure coding practices, identify vulnerabilities and adopt DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation workflows.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, perform root cause analysis and support production systems.
• Explore AI technologies to improve code quality and development speed, and stay up to date on emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, operations teams and stakeholders, and communicate progress, issues and risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience building and managing critical applications in financial services, payments or other regulated industries.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Java (8+) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring AI).
• Microservices, RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, EKS, CloudWatch, API Gateway) and Docker, Kubernetes.
• CI/CD, automated testing (JUnit, Karate) and release automation.
• Application security, OWASP standards and secure coding; ELK stack, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with ReactJS/Angular, Oracle, JBoss, Tomcat and Linux; exposure to AI-powered development tools.
• AWS Cloud certifications (Solutions Architect Associate or Developer Associate) preferred.
