Senior Assistant Director, Financial Control & Reporting

About the role

The Senior Assistant Director will lead a team responsible for financial operations, reporting and systems across Ministry of Health divisions. This senior position ensures prudent stewardship of financial resources, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the team in managing business transactions, including receipts, fixed assets, claims, and payments, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Supervise financial audits (government statements, fixed assets, other audits) and oversee implementation of corrective actions.
• Evaluate operating and development budgets, fee proposals, grant disbursements, and governance matters for statutory boards.
• Manage the Finance Shared Service provider (VITAL) and oversee accounting information systems.
• Drive automation and AI initiatives to streamline finance processes, such as faster payments and InvoiceNow.
• Guide the Financial Control & Reporting team to meet deliverables while developing staff capabilities.

Required profile

• Tertiary education in finance or related discipline; specialised finance/accounting training is a plus.
• Approximately 10 years of finance experience in ministries or statutory boards.
• Proven leadership of a team of 4‑5 officers.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
• High professional standards, integrity, and ability to work under pressure.
