Job description
About the role
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is hiring maintenance inspectors for its rail systems and infrastructure. Vacancies cover four domains: rolling stock and rail maintenance vehicles; signalling, communications systems, platform screen doors and integrated control systems; traction power systems and ancillary systems such as fire protection, ventilation, drainage and lighting; and trackwork, tunnels, viaducts and buildings infrastructure. After assessment, candidates are assigned to the domain that best matches their experience.
Key responsibilities
- Apply systematic maintenance audits to ensure high standards in maintenance planning, execution, records and workforce for systems under your specialisation.
- Conduct deep, outcome-focused maintenance audits beyond compliance checks to uncover systemic risks and improve effectiveness.
- Use risk-based inspection approaches to target critical systems and high-impact failure modes.
- Identify emerging and latent maintenance and asset condition risks early.
- Use technology-enabled inspection methods such as data analytics and condition monitoring systems.
- Analyse asset and maintenance performance metrics and failure trends with predictive and analytical approaches.
- Capture O&M insights to help build LTA's knowledge base for design and life-cycle management of rail assets.
Required profile
- Knowledge in electrical, electronics, mechanical or civil engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Engineering and rail domain expertise to assess maintenance quality and engineering integrity, and to interpret asset condition and degradation mechanisms.
- Maintenance and reliability engineering knowledge to analyse failure trends and recurring defects.
- Inspection and QA/QC experience, including structured audits using checklists and frameworks.
- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and produce clear, evidence-based inspection reports.
Required skills
- Data and analytical skills to interpret performance data, fault trends and reliability metrics.
- Familiarity with digital inspection tools, condition monitoring systems and emerging technologies such as AI, robotics and analytics platforms.
Candidates may be asked to complete a medical declaration and/or further assessment during the shortlisting process.
