Senior Facilities Engineer

About the role

NHG is looking for a motivated, hands-on Facilities Engineer to join its Facilities Engineering team in a dynamic healthcare environment. The engineer plans, delivers and assures high-quality engineering and building services, guides technical staff and works closely with contractors and internal stakeholders. The role suits engineers who want to move beyond routine maintenance into system reliability, improvement projects and leadership exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and review maintenance programmes for M&E systems and non-clinical equipment, including sterilisation equipment
• Investigate technical issues, carry out root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
• Conduct reliability assessments, troubleshoot faults and write incident and failure investigation reports
• Support inspection, testing, commissioning and system upgrades
• Oversee preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance, including budget and resource planning
• Keep maintenance and project documentation accurate and aligned with standards
• Lead engineering improvement projects with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
• Manage licensing, claims and regulatory requirements, and monitor operations for improvement opportunities
• Supervise contractors and guide technical staff, ensuring compliance with ISO, EHS and hospital management systems
• Investigate safety incidents, take part in training and process improvements, and review SOPs

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of relevant experience
• Solid understanding of M&E systems; healthcare experience is an advantage but not mandatory
• Clear communication with technicians, contractors and clinical users
• Independent, proactive and adaptable, able to work under pressure
• Comfortable with documentation, coordination and structured environments
