Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (VMware, Hyper-V or Nutanix)

About the role

Activate Interactive, a technology consultancy in Singapore, is hiring a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (role A26269) for a fixed-term contract until 31 December 2027, based at Changi Airport T2. The Platform Operations Engineer supports on-premises and hybrid infrastructure platforms that underpin mission-critical systems, focusing on reliability, operational stability and infrastructure improvement in a government or regulated environment. The role works with an internal team and L1 vendor engineers, and covers technical and security governance, a multi-year technology refresh programme and project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.
• Provide technical oversight of compute, storage, virtualization, operating systems, backup, disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA).
• Lead incident management, including technical deep dives, root cause analysis, recovery planning and resolution follow-up.
• Manage and coordinate vendor activities so that operational tasks, incidents, service requests and deliverables are completed on time.
• Review technical changes, service requests, implementation plans and recovery approaches against operational, security and architectural requirements.
• Support technical and security governance, including change review, risk awareness, compliance alignment and operational readiness checks.
• Plan, track and coordinate infrastructure projects such as refresh, upgrade, migration and modernization, including risks, dependencies and milestones.
• Work with application, network, security and vendor teams to resolve issues and maintain runbooks, SOPs and governance artefacts.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure or platform operations.
• Experience supporting production or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with vendor-supported operating models and managing external support teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex incidents and support technical governance, change review or service request approval (preferred).
• At least 2 years of experience in government or public sector settings.
• Good communication and coordination with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, segmentation)
• Hybrid infrastructure, including AWS or Azure (preferred)
• Preferred: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, IaC, VMware VCP, Microsoft Windows Server, RHCE, ITIL v4, AWS or Azure associate-level certifications
