Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Balyasny Asset Management is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support its Asia operations. The role will provide regulatory guidance, corporate legal support, and transactional assistance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on investment‑management regulations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and other Asian markets.
• Lead general corporate matters for the Asia region, including entity formation and governance documentation.
• Collaborate with business teams on market‑access initiatives such as QFII, JSCC‑cleared products, and power/gas contracts.
• Assist in negotiating trading documentation with counterparties and prime brokers to enable exchange trading.
• Conduct legal research, provide best‑practice recommendations, and interpret international, national and local laws.
• Support the General Counsel and the broader Legal & Compliance department.
• Respond to legal inquiries from business units and coordinate AML/KYC onboarding for Asia‑based counterparties.

Required profile

• JD with 12+ years of legal experience, preferably in financial services.
• Regulatory experience in Asian jurisdictions is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with high professionalism and attention to detail.
