Senior Pharmacist (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a senior pharmacist on a contract basis to lead safe and efficient drug dispensing at NUH. The role involves overseeing medication distribution, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, and supporting the pharmacy team.

Key responsibilities

• Review written medication orders to confirm appropriate drug selection, dosage, and safety.
• Fill prescriptions as ordered by attending physicians and explain usage directions to patients.
• Provide drug information to health professionals and inform prescribers of interactions, adverse reactions, or contraindications.
• Maintain shelf inventory, ensuring proper storage, security, and product shelf‑life compliance.
• Implement pharmacy policies, perform inspections of drug storage areas, and adhere to regulatory requirements.
• Oversee pharmacy assistants, technicians, and purchasing officers, reviewing their work and ensuring accurate medication supply.
• Maintain comprehensive records for drug ordering, storage, and distribution as required by hospital and legal standards.
• Participate in pharmacy education, deliver lectures, and contribute to professional publications.
• Assist in clinical training for pre‑registration pharmacists and pharmacy students.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with experience in a hospital pharmacy environment.
• Ability to review and interpret medication orders, communicate with physicians, and provide patient counseling.
• Experience supervising pharmacy support staff and managing inventory.
