Senior Project Leader - Design Assurance

About the role

Abbott's Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, including brands such as Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure and Glucerna. As Senior Project Leader, Design Assurance, you will ensure product designs provide the necessary safety, efficacy, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction while balancing speed to market and cost effectiveness. The role works with functional group peers and managers to define Design Assurance deliverables so that products can be successfully scaled up to commercial-scale manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quality documents and ensure appropriate design reviews are carried out.
• Monitor product, process and package quality performance, identify quality issues and trends, and guide functional peers and operations in implementing corrective actions.
• Analyze complex problems and data, and lead risk assessments in product development, identifying mitigations and driving their implementation.
• Negotiate design criteria and balance quality with other criteria across functions.
• Ensure design and testing of Abbott Nutrition products comply with applicable regulations and Abbott policies, and support root cause analysis.
• Lead or support the training of Project Leaders and Associate Project Leaders and the onboarding of new team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or another technical science); Master's degree a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the food or nutritional industry, including scale-up and commercialization of product innovations.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, and to interpret technical data from different regions.

Required skills

• Proficient technical writing and clear communication of technical information.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards for infant formula and nutritional products, and of quality management systems.
• High-level technical competence in data analysis and product-related calculations.
