Senior Research Fellow (Materials Chemistry and Chemical Engineering)

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is seeking a Senior Research Fellow to design, synthesise, activate and characterise porous polymer microspheres. The project includes designing upscaling processes, collaborating with partners on life cycle assessment (LCA) of the scale-up, and working with clinicians on testing of the materials. The researcher will work in a team of chemists, biologists and material scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced characterisation of porous particles, including SEM/BET and other techniques.
• Develop workflows for scaling up processes.
• Develop methodologies for in-depth structural and functional studies and improve instrumentation setups.
• Write reports and produce high-quality documents consolidating research findings.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on development, LCA and planning of clinical studies.
• Mentor interns, undergraduates and postgraduate students.
• Assist in grant writing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, including procurement and liaison with suppliers.

Required profile

• PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with morphological and structural techniques for materials characterisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong initiative.
• Good written and communication skills.
• Responsible and passionate self-starter.

Experience with electron microscopy, NMR and BET is an advantage. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
