Senior Research Fellow – Polymer Upcycling

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU seeks a Senior Research Fellow to lead the development of green, scalable polymer up‑cycling technologies, with a focus on polyurethane. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, bridging polymer science, chemical engineering, and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute lab‑scale and pilot‑scale experiments for mechanical and chemical up‑cycling of polymers.
• Develop and optimise pre‑treatment processes for polyurethane waste.
• Characterise samples using advanced analytical techniques and analyse data to guide process improvements.
• Collaborate with industrial and academic partners to transition technologies from the laboratory to pilot implementation.
• Prepare technical reports, intellectual property documentation, safety dossiers, and publish research findings.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 6‑8 years of research and development experience in polymer science, green technologies, or chemical engineering.
• Proven leadership in multidisciplinary project management.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
