Senior/Staff Engineer, Firmware and Product Test (SSD)

About the role

Micron is hiring a Senior / Staff Engineer, Firmware Test for its SSD business. The engineer owns the firmware verification scope, drives test strategy, automation, failure analysis and product readiness, and works closely with firmware development and cross-functional teams to improve code quality and support enterprise and automotive SSD products.

Key responsibilities

• Own comprehensive firmware verification plans covering functional, regression and system-level tests.
• Develop white-box, grey-box, known and closed-system test methods.
• Analyze weekly regression failures, perform root-cause analysis and resolve NAND, firmware and system-level issues.
• Manage test development, deployment, automation and reporting to improve firmware quality and release readiness.
• Take part in code reviews and guide the team toward full test coverage aligned with the firmware architecture.
• Work with firmware developers to improve code quality and strengthen validation practices.
• Communicate technical challenges, risks and mitigation plans to teams and management, and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Support Agile development, Git workflows, automated builds, continuous integration and test automation.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Over 3 years of relevant experience in SSD firmware test development.
• Experience validating and debugging NAND, firmware and system-level issues in SSD products.
• Preferred: experience with enterprise or automotive SSD products and improving firmware code quality with development teams.

Required skills

• SSD firmware testing, verification planning and test coverage analysis.
• Python for test development, automation, regression analysis and reporting.
• Storage protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, NVMe-MI and OCP.
• NAND flash operation, SSD firmware components and system-level debugging.
• Automated build, CI, test automation, Git and Agile development.
