SMT Test/Debug Engineer I

About the role

Jabil is looking for an SMT Test/Debug Engineer I who works under limited supervision to design, develop and maintain test procedures, tester hardware and software for electronic circuit board production. The role is based mainly in the office, with some time each day on the manufacturing floor.

Key responsibilities

• Review circuit board designs for testability requirements
• Support manufacturing with failure analysis, tester debugging and reduction of intermittent failures and downtime of test equipment
• Prepare recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures from product design through to initial production
• Generate reports and analysis of test data, and prepare documentation and recommendations
• Review test equipment designs, data and RMA issues with customers regularly
• Design, and direct engineering and technical personnel in the fabrication of testing and test control apparatus and equipment
• Coordinate development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices needed to test, record and reduce test data
• Determine test conditions, sequences and phases, and control operational, functional and performance phases of tests
• Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for test engineering and management
• Develop or use computer software and hardware to run tests on machinery and equipment
• Maintain semi-routine techniques in line with Jabil standards, including ISO and QS development standards
• May train production testing staff on new procedures

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering preferred, or related experience and training
• Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT Test/Debug Engineering preferred
• Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA inspection requirements is an added bonus

• Reading and interpreting technical procedures and regulations, and writing reports and procedure manuals
• Mathematical reasoning with probability, statistics, geometry and trigonometry
• Problem definition, data collection and interpretation of technical diagrams
• Ability to lift and carry PCs and test equipment up to 50 lbs
