Sourcing Engineer – Sheet Metal

About the role

Our client, a leading contract manufacturer, is seeking a Sourcing Engineer specialized in sheet metal to join their procurement team. The role supports ongoing transformation projects and works closely with engineering, operations, and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage sourcing of mechanical sheet metal components.
• Drive cost reduction through negotiations, alternative sourcing, localisation and supplier consolidation.
• Build and maintain a strong supplier network, including strategic partners.
• Identify design and value‑engineering opportunities for cost savings.
• Improve lead times, payment/delivery terms and order quantities (MOQ/SPQ).
• Ensure suppliers meet quality, cost, delivery and capacity requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and product teams on sourcing activities.
• Monitor market trends and mitigate risks such as end‑of‑life or single‑source parts.
• Support cost evaluation during NPI and engineering changes.
• Work with engineering on design reviews and technical issue resolution.
• Support sourcing and supply readiness during build and initial production phases.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of sourcing experience in metal fabrications or plastics tool & die.
