Staff Product Compliance Engineer

About the role

Rockwell Automation is hiring a Staff Product Compliance Engineer in Singapore, reporting to the Product Compliance Engineering Manager. The role ensures product design compliance with certifications, regulations and component engineering requirements, covering electrical safety, explosive atmospheres, electromagnetic compatibility and environmental compliance, and keeps products compliant throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement country-specific and technology-specific certification requirements to support product commercialization and lifecycle compliance.
• Participate in team reviews of compliance deliverables, including compliance and design reviews, certification and test plans, publications and test reports.
• Serve as the main liaison with third-party agencies such as UL, Intertek, ABS and DNV-GL.
• Lead cross-functional projects managing product and process changes to meet new environmental regulations, audits and safety certification requirements.
• Analyze regulatory trends and recommend actions, and lead the planning, execution and maintenance of certifications and regulatory approvals for global market access.
• Use AI and digital tools to improve efficiency in regulatory research, certification management, document preparation and compliance monitoring, and review AI-generated outputs with sound engineering judgement.
• Influence business groups to embed regulatory and certification requirements into product designs, and work independently on new or special assignments.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in hardware design, including electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility for industrial automation products.
• Direct supervision of an engineering team is advantageous; regulatory, country-specific compliance and environmental certification experience is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI-powered productivity platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise and engineering knowledge management systems.
• Preferred: review of product design against IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-201, ANSI 12.12.01, IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-7.
• Preferred: practical experience in electrical safety testing (UL DAP Program) and EMC testing, and familiarity with ISO/IEC 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 80079-34.
