Trader – Assistant Vice President (Energy Markets)

About the role

Join Citi's Energy Trading desk in Singapore as an Assistant Vice President, managing a book of crude oil, refined products, and options across the Asia‑Pacific region. You will drive revenue, control risk, and expand the franchise by working closely with regional clients and counterparties.

Key responsibilities

• Trade and manage a book of crude oil, refined products, and derivatives, delivering budgeted revenues.
• Develop and maintain relationships with refinery clients, trading houses, and regional counterparties.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure governance under MAS regulations.
• Price and execute futures, swaps, and options, providing rapid quotes across Asian and global trading hours.
• Identify and act on quantitative trading opportunities, including cross‑basin arbitrage and volatility strategies.
• Conduct quantitative research using Python, regression, and statistical analysis to back‑test strategies and optimise portfolio risk.
• Prepare sophisticated market data and analysis for client proposals and strategic plans.

Required profile

• 3‑6 years of experience in the financial industry, with at least 2 years in commodities trading or quantitative analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of Asia‑Pacific energy markets and regulatory environment.

Required skills

• Python programming for quantitative analysis and back‑testing.
