Trainee, Quality Control (Microbiology)

About the role

Lonza is recruiting a Trainee in Quality Control for its Tuas facility in Singapore, on the Microbiology Day Shift team (12-hour day shift). This is a fully site-based role within the Career Conversion Program (CCP), a 15-month on-the-job training period where structured training is delivered at the participating companies so that participants acquire the competencies needed for the job. The trainee works on intermediate and advanced microbiology techniques such as bioburden, LAL, plating and counting, microbial identification and environmental monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize and perform testing and analysis in a timely way to support business needs.
• Analyze bulk products according to Standard Operating Procedures and test methods, and document results in line with cGMP.
• Solve problems with analytical methods and troubleshoot equipment.
• Take part in method transfers and validation, and in equipment qualification.
• Help select QC equipment, standards and reagents, and carry out assay trend analysis and document revisions.
• Collect environmental monitoring samples, generate trends and reports, and assist in microbiology investigations.
• Provide general lab support: housekeeping, equipment maintenance, supply inventory and ordering, glassware management and autoclaving.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant science field or equivalent.
• Relevant laboratory experience in a biotech or medically related field.
• Experience and accomplishments that indicate the final position for which the candidate qualifies.
• Good problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of cGMP regulations.
• Knowledge of area-specific responsibilities.
• Intermediate and advanced microbiology techniques (bioburden, LAL, plating and counting, microbial identification, environmental sampling).
